Phil pursued graphic arts as well as music in high school and college. Thanks to Brian, we have preserved copies of Phil’s hand-drawn cartoons and lithographs. For now, sadly, this is all that is known to exist.
The earliest drawing has to be this one. Brian thinks Phil was 8 or 9 when he drew this.
The cartoons were drawn in Phil’s young teenage years.
These sketches were made at the Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati in his later teen years.
These cartoons were made in conjunction with his future wife Maureen during their college years.
The remaining pieces are lithographs made at Miami University in Dayton, Ohio, done on stone and asphalt. We don’t know if any art exists beyond these lithographs.
